This pathway maps the vendor-neutral Cloud Fundamentals to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) certification — then toward Solutions Architect Associate.

Start with the concepts

Work through service models, resilience, cloud networking and cloud security. AWS is those concepts with Amazon names.

AWS vocabulary

  • Compute — EC2 (IaaS), Elastic Beanstalk (PaaS), ECS/EKS (containers), Lambda (serverless).
  • Networking — VPCs, subnets, security groups and Elastic Load Balancing (see cloud networking).
  • Identity — AWS IAM for users, roles and least-privilege policies (see cloud IAM).
  • Storage — S3 (object), EBS (block); secure S3 buckets carefully.
  • Regions & availability zones — for resilience and global reach.

A Virtual Private Cloud (AWS) or Virtual Network (Azure) is your isolated, software-defined network in the cloud. You define its address space with CIDR — the same subnetting skills as on-prem apply.
